The brewery takes its name from the Unicorn Inn which stood on what is now the bottom yard of the brewery and was bought by William on the 29th September 1838.  He was joined in 1865 by his younger son Frederic who started to brew beer.

Old Tom

Old Tom is almost as old as the brewery itself - since 1899. Awarded as as the World’s Best Dark Ale, The World’s Best Strong Ale and the Worlds Best Barley Wine. Supreme Champion Winter Beer of Britain three times at the National Winter Ales Festival.
