Hacker-Pschorr Bräu
München Part of Paulaner Gruppe |
||
Already in 1417, there is mention of a brewhouse in the heart of Munich. The name Hacker-Pschorr dates back to the marriage of Teresia Hacker and Joseph Pschorr. Under the couple’s leadership, Hacker-Pschorr advanced to become Munich’s leading major brewery in the 18th century. Franz Strauss and Josephine Pschorr give birth to Munich’s famous composer, Richard Strauss. His godfather Georg Pschorr (son of Teresia and Joseph) supports the talented child, also financially over the course of the musician’s career. To express his thanks, Richard Strauss officially dedicates Der Rosenkavalier to his “dear relatives, the Pschorr family in Munich.” (youtube-link) |
