Founded 1975. The first beer brand is Ziguli, between 1975 to 1988 new brands are added to the sortiment, such as Ziguli Special Brew, Riia (Riga), Moskva (Moscow) and Kuldne Oder (Golden Barley). In July 1990 brewing of the dark beer begins. In the spring of 1991, Toolse beer is launched and it stays in the assortment until 2010. In 1992 the the tradition of releasing Christmas brew gets started - the first Christams brew is called Jõulumees (Santa Claus) and appropriately to the season it was a dark beer. Harboes Bryggeri AS, Denmark, becomes the biggest shareholder of AS Viru Õlu in 1992. Harboe has decided to close the brewery in 2020. |
